Анотація

На прикладі Голокосту в статті проаналізовані причини маргіналізації пам’яті про «чужих» у сучасній Україні. Задля цього автор аналізує неофіційну пам’ять, котру фіксує, враховуючи особливості пригадування безпосередніх сучасників геноциду євреїв та їхніх нащадків, та офіційну колективну пам’ять України. На думку автора, на зміст останньої вплинули як об’єктивні, так і суб’єктивні фактори, зокрема – неоднозначність українсько-єврейських взаємин часів Другої світової війни.

На примере Холокоста в статье проанализированы причины маргинализации памяти о «чужих» в современной Украине. Автор анализирует неофициальную память, которую рассматривает, учитывая особенности припоминания непосредственных современников геноцида евреев и их потомков, а также официальную коллективную память Украины. По мнению автора статьи, на содержание последней повлияли как объективные, так и субъективные факторы, в частности – неоднозначность украинско-еврейских отношений времен Второй мировой войны.

On the example of the Holocaust the author ascertains the reasons of the minimizing of the memory about the “others” in modern Ukraine. He argues that the exclusion of certain events in the collective memory is both at individual and collective levels. At the individual level this is reflected by the position of those who were directly involved in interethnic interaction in World War II, caused ethnically motivated violence or was its silent statistic. Informal memory at the individual level is also determined by the reluctance of offspring to give an objective assessment of the position of “their” in the Holocaust.
Official collective memory is formed by Ukrainian State. Its political elite refused to identify the position of the state on the Holocaust. This is due to the complexity of Ukrainian￾Jewish relations during the war. Displacement of the genocide of Jews to the margins of the collective memory of citizens of Ukraine is also caused by its restoration, which began in the second half of 1980th: the core of the collective memory in that times was the past of Ukrainians, while the stories, related to ethnic minorities, were at the margin.
The marginalization of official memory about the “others” is also significantly caused by the position of historians in Ukraine. Indeed, much of them (because of the difficulty of correctly interpreting of the relationships of Jews and Ukrainians in time of the Holocaust) refused to operate inconvenient to the titular nation scenes of the past. Consequently, there is a collective oblivion of “inconvenient” scenes of the past by “their”.
